Before moving to Sandringham to his temporary home, former Prince Andrew was regularly spotted riding a horse around the Windsor Estate by Royal Lodge. However, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has now been banned from horse riding near his current home following his arrest. After the ban, as per reports, Andrew is now effectively housebound at Wood Farm, with just his dogs for company, including two of his late mother Queen Elizabeth’s corgis.
Ex-Prince Andrew ‘ordered’ not to go horse riding after shock arrest, says source
After his arrest from his Norfolk home, ex-Prince Andrew has now been slapped with a ban on his favourite pastime. The former Duke of York has been asked not to go horse riding near his current home on the Sandringham Estate.
The ban came into place as royal aides fear that his smiling while riding the horse would look “bad” amid the ongoing police investigation. That is why the 66-year-old former prince has been told not go horse riding near his Wood Farm home, where photographers can capture him.
“Since his arrest last week he has been ordered not to go horse riding. It’s considered a bad look,” a source told The Sun.
The tipster further added that horse riding “was one of the few things he actually enjoyed doing so.” However, “they don’t think he should be seen grinning and smiling on his horse like he was in Windsor.”
The former prince had even voluntarily surrendered his gun licence to the police in 2025, ending another one of his hobbies. So for now, Andrew is effectively housebound with just his dogs for company. He also has two corgis of his late mother Queen Elizabeth.
The former Duke of York has been photographed just once since his exile. It was taken while he was leaving the police station after 11 hours of arrest, slumped in the back of the car, looking shocked. That picture of his was even hung in the Paris museum, the Louvre, by activists.
