Timothée Chalamet Unveils Who His ‘Favorite Director to This Day’ Is

Timothée Chalamet, who has now become the youngest actor to gain three Best Actor Oscar nominations since Marlo Brando, sat down in an interview, where he revealed who his favorite director is. The actor is currently competing for the Best Actor category in this year’s Academy Awards, thanks to his starring role in Marty Supreme.

Despite still being only 30 years old, Timothée Chalamet has worked with some of the finest directors in the industry, including Luca Guadagnino, Josh Safdie, Denis Villeneuve, and Greta Gerwig, but the Marty Supreme star clearly has a favorite.

Speaking to Variety in a new interview with Matthew McConaughey, Chalamet clarified that Christopher Nolan, who won the Best Director Oscar for his previous feature Oppenheimer, remains his favorite director. The actor worked in only one of Nolan’s films, Interstellar. But it seems that it was enough for Chalamet to make the call.

“S—, man. Nolan is my favorite director to this day,” Chalamet said during the interview when he and McConaughey were talking about Interstellar. “The Dark Knight made me want to act. Inception inspired me. When I read the script to Interstellar, I thought it was gonna change the world. And I learned as much from him as I learned from you,” he added.

Chalamet continued, “You guys took the work extremely seriously. I got a sense from you two that you felt like you were walking on sacred ground. You were like, ‘This is sacred. I don’t want to treat this as anything other than sacred.’ And it was just so inspiring. It was hard to go back to college after that.”

The actor had previously claimed that Interstellar was his personal favorite movie. He claimed that he liked working in Interstellar the most, despite being in a relatively minor role.

Interstellar has remained a standout project in Nolan’s iconic filmography as well.
