A professional pair skater is looking to compete in the next season of Dancing With the Stars (DWTS). After earning a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, Danny O’Shea took to social media to offer a glimpse behind the scenes of his audition tape preparation.
Danny O’Shea reveals he is working on an audition tape for DWTS
On February 19, Danny O’Shea, 35, shared a carousel post on Instagram comprising photos and short clips showcasing his dance moves as he prepares to record an audition tape for the next season of DWTS. He captioned the post, “BTS of working on my audition tape for DWTS!”
The first slide is a photo of him casually posing next to Rylee Arnold, a DWTS pro dancer. The second, third, and fifth slides are short clips of him and Arnold practicing dance moves. And the final clip shows the two trying their practiced move on ice while wearing skates. Arnold, surprised and seemingly impressed with the athlete’s attempts, praises him throughout the clips.
Danny O’Shea took part in the figure skating team event at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, currently underway in Milan, Italy. He participated with his partner, Ellie Kam, 21, and ultimately won a gold medal. Together, the pair has won several competitions, including gold at the John Nicks Pairs Challenge and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in 2024. Prior to that, they earned gold at the 2023 Finlandia Trophy as well.
Rylee Arnold, on the other hand, is a professional Latin and ballroom dancer. She rose to prominence after appearing as a pro dancer on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors in 2018. Following the cancellation of the junior edition, she joined the main series for Season 32.
DWTS wrapped up its Season 34 on November 25, 2025, with Robert Irwin winning the Mirrorball Trophy alongside his partner Witney Carson. There is currently no official release date for Season 35. However, since it is an annual competition, the next season could begin sometime in September 2026, similar to previous seasons.
