A new report suggests that Shia LaBeouf relocated to New Orleans from California for a new lease on life, following his split from Mia Goth.
PEOPLE reported, citing a source, that the Transformers star was “unhappy in Los Angeles and saw New Orleans as a reset.” The source also reasoned that the move was influenced by his desire to be close to his family, especially his father, Jeffrey LaBeouf, with whom he was “very close and wanted to spend more time.”
The outlet previously reported that Goth, with whom LaBeouf shares a daughter, Isabel, “encouraged” the decision. The Honey Boy actor and Frankenstein actress called it quits last year, according to Page Six. Notably, this marked the second time they had split. The couple, who first got together in 2012, had earlier split in 2018 before reconciling and welcoming their daughter.
According to TMZ, LaBeouf purchased a $1 uptown cottage in the city. The property, situated 20 minutes away from the French Quarter, boasts three bedrooms and a 3.5 bath.
Despite moving to New Orleans for a fresh start, LaBeouf found himself in trouble with the law. TMZ reported that the actor was arrested following an alleged altercation at a bar on Royal Street during Mardi Gras. Court records revealed that he was facing two counts of simple battery. Following his arrest, LaBeouf issued a two-word response on X (formerly Twitter), “free me.” He was eventually released without paying bail, but a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for March 19, 2026.
Later, he was spotted dancing on Bourbon Street while holding release papers in his mouth (via WGNO).
