Ray J sends message after bleeding eyes on stage

Ray J recently sparked concern after performing with bleeding eyes and a chest monitor at his concert in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 14. On Thursday, the singer shared a video message on Facebook, addressing the incident.

“I want to thank everybody out here for showing us love,” Ray J stated in the clip. “I’m on my way to Atlanta, and then I’m on my way to L.A. But I just want to thank everybody out here,” he added.

The “One Wish” singer concluded, “Forget what they’re talking about. Forget what you’re hearing. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your love. And again, all we can do is get better. Salute, I love you.”

Ray J’s message comes after photographer Tommy Nard II alleged that the singer used fake blood for his performance. Speaking with the news outlet KTAL 6, Nard claimed, “I’ve seen him literally put on the fake blood and things like that, and go out there with the crowd, which is very shocking that he’d do something like that.”

In response, Ray J’s manager, Melinda Santiago, denied the allegations in a statement to PEOPLE. “The bottom line is Ray J has been in and out of the hospital dealing with health and heart issues. That is a fact. Another fact is that the meds that Ray is on have some side effects,” she said.

“It’s absurd that a local videographer (not our team) would want to clout chase for five min of fame off of Ray J’s name and play about Ray being sick is sick in itself. My job is to protect my artists backstage from opportunistic people. If we can’t do that, then I’ll be cutting off all backstage access moving forward,” Santiago added.

Ray J’s wife, Princess Love, also addressed the controversy. She commented under an Instagram post covering the news, declaring that the blood “wasn’t fake.”
