After months of anticipation, fans of the hit Australian series can finally mark their calendars. Netflix has officially confirmed the release date of the third and final season, bringing closure to the students of Hartley High.
Heartbreak High gets release date for the third and final season
Heartbreak High Season 3 release date has been set for March 25, 2026, when the final chapter of the Gen Z-focused drama will launch globally on Netflix. The announcement came during the streamer’s recent What’s Next event for Australia and New Zealand, where the full slate of 2026 original programming from the region was unveiled.
Production on the final season wrapped over a year ago, with Fremantle Australia and NewBe handling production duties. The series will see the Hartley High crew navigating the pressures of graduation and impending adulthood. However, things take a dramatic turn when a revenge prank goes wrong, forcing Amerie (Ayesha Madon) and her friends to cover up their secret or risk losing everything.
Heartbreak High’s ensemble cast returns in full force, including Madon alongside James Majoos, Chloé Hayden, Asher Yasbincek, Thomas Weatherall, and Will McDonald. Additionally, Gemma Chua-Tran, Bryn Chapman Parish, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend, and Rachel House. Rounding it out are Chika Ikogwe, Kartanya Maynard, Aki Munroe, Ioane Sa’ula, Ben Turland, and William McKenna.
The modern iteration of Heartbreak High on Netflix has become a cultural phenomenon since its debut. The Sydney-set series is a reboot of the beloved Australian teen drama from the mid-1990s, which itself was a spin-off of the 1993 film The Heartbreak Kid. But this fresh take has carved its own legacy.
The show has racked up numerous accolades, including several AACTA Awards and an International Emmy win in 2023. Critics and audiences alike have praised its authentic portrayal of contemporary teen life, diverse representation, and willingness to tackle complex social issues.
Now that the Heartbreak High Season 3 release date is set, fans will have to wait for the first look and trailers (via Deadline).
