Donald Trump Becomes ‘Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal’

Two-time US president Donald Trump seems to be running away with newly invented awards, having added yet another trophy to his resume. The Republican Party veteran was awarded the “Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal” title at a recent White House event, making him the first-ever recipient of the peculiar accolade.

On February 11, Wednesday, the current US President kicked off a one-of-a-kind event at the White House that featured several coal miners and executives from the Washington Coal Club, along with Peabody Energy CEO and President, Jim Grech.

“Clean, beautiful coal. We love clean, beautiful coal, don’t we?” Donald Trump exclaimed as he commenced proceedings. He then welcomed the miners present at the event by stating, “I’m thrilled to welcome to the White House the men and women who light our cities, and you know, you do things that people don’t even understand, so much, you do so much. You heat our homes, fuel our factories, and turn natural resources into American riches and dreams. Our amazing coal miners” (via The Independent).

Later, Trump emphasized the accomplishments of his administration in the coal sector, which included withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord and increasing coal production by 4 million tons a month. “I ended the war on coal,” the businessman-turned-politician boasted.

Shortly afterward, Donald Trump received the ‘Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal’ trophy at the hands of Jim Grech. The award featured a statue of a coal miner, with an engraving of the title placed right below the bronze figure.

Notably, this felicitation occurred sometime after Trump issued an order for the Pentagon to procure electricity generated by coal. The decree instructed the US Department of Defence to sign long-term purchase agreements with coal-fired plants, all the while focusing on “preservation and strategic utilisation” of “coal-based energy assets,” as per Al Jazeera.

In a similar fashion, Trump became the inaugural recipient of the ‘FIFA Peace Prize’ in December 2025 during the World Cup draw for the upcoming edition.
