Kelly Clarkson ‘Excited’ for Next Chapter After Talk Show Ends — Source

Kelly Clarkson is entering what sources describe as a more intentional and family-focused phase of her life after deciding to end her long-running daytime series. According to an insider, Clarkson feels ready to step back from the relentless pace that came with hosting a daily talk show.

“After years of an intense daily schedule, she’s excited to move at a different pace and have more flexibility to spend time with her kids,” the source told PEOPLE. “This change gives her space to be more present at home while still doing the creative work she loves.” While Clarkson is closing one chapter, she is far from stepping away from creativity. The source said the Grammy-winning artist still plans to make music and perform and remains open to select projects that excite her—just not anything that requires a nonstop daily commitment.

“For her, this next phase is about balance,” the insider added, highlighting that Clarkson wants freedom without sacrificing the parts of her career that bring her joy. On Monday, Feb. 2, Clarkson confirmed that the current season of The Kelly Clarkson Show will be its last. The announcement brings the NBC series to a close after seven successful seasons. In a heartfelt Instagram statement, Clarkson reflected on the journey and the people who made the show possible.

“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York,” she wrote. “There have been so many amazing moments over these seven seasons.” She went on to thank the band, crew, guests, fans, and NBC, calling the network a consistently supportive partner throughout the show’s run.

Clarkson explained that the decision ultimately came down to family. She shares two children, daughter River, 11, and son Remington “Remy,” 9, with her former husband, Brandon Blackstock.
