Breaking Bad Creator Gives Pluribus Season 2 Release Date Update

Pluribus creator Vince Gilligan recently gave a release date update on the highly anticipated Season 2 of the hit Apple TV post-apocalyptic sci-fi series. However, fans might consider it disappointing. Notably, the streaming platform originally gave Pluribus a two-season order back in 2022. The show debuted on November 7, 2025, with the first season, comprising nine episodes, airing until December 24, 2025.

Vince Gilligan warns Pluribus Season 2 won’t come out as quickly as The Pitt

The veteran filmmaker discussed Pluribus Season 2 during Apple TV’s first press day at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar on Tuesday. When asked about how far he and his team were into writing the sophomore chapter, he replied that his writers were “plugging away.”

“All the folks, if you like the show, thank you for getting us here on this stage,” Vince Gilligan elaborated. “It takes a long time to come up with these episodes. We are deeper into the process at this moment than I would like, considering how few episodes we have figured out. But it takes some time, just as it did the first season” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Gilligan proceeded to note that while they appreciated “everybody’s patience,” he warned that it wouldn’t be like HBO Max’s The Pitt and return with a new season every year. “I wish it would be because it’s an awesome show that’s old-school, like we used to do The X-Files [when] we’d come back the same month every year,” he added. “It will not be like The Pitt. We’ll come back the same month — just the question is what year,” he stated.

Notably, The Pitt originally premiered in January 2025 and returned with Season 2 in January 2026.

Thus, as mentioned above, Pluribus premiered in November 2025. Accordingly, Season 2 can potentially come out in November 2027, November 2028, or even later. The Apple TV series features Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, Karolina Wydra as Zosia, and Carlos-Manuel Vesga as Manousos Oviedo.
