Catherine O’Hara Death Prompts Apple TV To Cancel The Studio Panel

With Hollywood mourning Catherine O’Hara‘s death, Apple TV recently announced that the panel for The Studio on press day has been canceled. Notably, the late, iconic actress played a major role in the series. She starred as Patty Leigh, a veteran film producer and the mentor of Seth Rogen’s protagonist and aspiring filmmaker, Matt Remick. Moreover, Leigh’s firing as Continental Studios’ studio head resulted in Remick’s promotion to the position, kicking off the series’ events.

The Studio panel at Apple TV’s press day gets canceled after Catherine O’Hara’s death

Apple TV revealed that the panel for The Studio, originally scheduled for Press Day on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Santa Monica’s Barker Hanger, has been canceled in the wake of Catherine O’Hara’s death. Notably, this event promotes the streamer’s 2026 and future slate.

As per the program, O’Hara was reportedly not scheduled to attend the panel. The panel was expected to feature The Studio’s other stars — Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Kathryn Hahn — before its cancellation.

The late actress was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Patty Leigh. She was originally expected to reprise her role in Season 2, appearing in some of the early scenes. Unfortunately, the actress reportedly pulled out of filming on account of “personal matters.” This happened days before her demise, according to The Sun, which cited several sources close to The Studio’s production.

“She was scheduled to film, but they reworked the schedule to focus on scenes without her character,” a source added. “It was not widely known she was dealing with any health or major issues.” They further stated, “I don’t believe she ever filmed anything for season two.”

O’Hara passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 71, following a brief illness. After her demise, many of her co-stars from her various projects paid tribute to her.

Her demise greatly affected The Studio’s cast and crew. A source told The Sun, “Her death comes as a total shock to everyone on the show. She was the most beloved person on the set.” They further stated, “This is a huge loss not just for The Studio, but for the world in general. She’s a legend.”
