The couple chose the name as a tribute to Davidson’s father, Scott Davidson, a New York City firefighter who died while responding to the 9/11 attacks. The former “SNL” star shared that his father’s closest friends and fellow firefighters often called Scott Davidson “Scottie,” which later inspired the name he chose for his baby.
Pete told the outlet that, beyond its emotional significance, the name also has a lighter origin, noting that his daughter Scottie was conceived in Scotland — a romantic trip Hewitt documented on her social media. The newborn’s middle name also carries family significance. Hewitt shared that Rose appears throughout her family tree, making it a natural choice. “My middle name is Rose, and both of my sisters’ middle names are also Rose,” she said. “My mom’s maiden name had Rose in it.
