The Batman star Robert Pattinson, widely considered one of the most acclaimed actors of this generation, spoke about how he used to smell like crayons in a recent interview. The actor said that he used to absolutely smell like crayons before, but it has since subsided. This interview settled a long-running fan curiosity.
Robert Pattinson talks about his ‘strange’ body chemistry
Robert Pattinson recently sat down for a detailed interview with GQ. He discussed a range of topics, including his recent work. Pattinson most recently appeared in Die My Love, where he starred opposite Jennifer Lawrence.
During the conversation, Pattinson also addressed a specific fan question about once smelling like crayons. He confirmed that this was true for a period of his life. “I think that something has changed. My body chemistry has changed. It’s very strange,” he told GQ. “But I used to smell exactly like a crayon.”
He explained that as he got older, the scent gradually faded.
“And it’s weird, you become less scented as you get older, I think. I don’t really notice my smell anymore,” the The Lighthouse actor said. “I used to have a very particular, pronounced smell.”
When asked to describe the scent, Pattinson replied, “A crayon-y one.” He added, “Before that, it was quite a kind of vicious, vicious scent.” He also joked that the change happened during a period of change in his personal and professional life.
“When [my scent] became crayon-y, it was like something died,” he said. “I guess the seven-year cycle. Maybe I was smelling of crayons when one self died, and when a new self was born, it was less scented.”
He further explained that his body odor is completely gone. “I don’t smell anything now. It’s so weird,” he said, “You can be going to the gym and stuff, I’m like, okay, I don’t smell anymore.”
