Avengers: Doomsday To Pit 2 Veteran Marvel Heroes – Report

Two veteran heroes from Marvel’s cinematic history are reportedly set to clash in Avengers: Doomsday. A new rumor teases an intense showdown between a web-slinger from a beloved trilogy and a clawed mutant known for his long-running role in the Fox universe.

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man rumored to take on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine

According to scooper @MyTimeToShineHello on X, “Tobey Maguire vs Hugh Jackman OMG!” and “HOLY S—, Avengers Doomsday is going to be INSANE.” These posts sparked speculation that both characters will appear in the Marvel film set for release on December 18, 2026.

Fans began speculating about Maguire’s return after he reprised his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). In that film, he appeared alongside Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. Marvel Studios has not confirmed his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday. However, @MyTimeToShineHello claimed that Maguire appears in the film wearing a fully CGI suit and shares screen time with Jackman’s Wolverine.

A previous rumor from a Nerdrotic at Night livestream claimed that Avengers: Doomsday would kill off Maguire’s Spider-Man early in the film. Nerdrotic said, “There’s Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man world with Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus fighting the Fox X-Men, and the Fox X-Men destroy Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, and he dies.”

However, a newer update has challenged that claim. The Cosmic Circus insider Alex Perez reported that Maguire’s Spider-Man does not die in Avengers: Doomsday, debunking the rumor about the Fox X-Men killing the character in an opening interdimensional sequence.

Tobey Maguire first played Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s trilogy: Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007). Sony planned a fourth film but later canceled it. The studio rebooted the franchise in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man. Maguire returned in No Way Home, which reignited interest in a potential Spider-Man 4.

If the rumor is true, any future film with Maguire’s Spider-Man would need to take place before Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel Studios has not confirmed any of these details.
