Jimmy Kimmel used his Thursday night monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to joke about President Donald Trump’s acceptance of a Nobel Peace Prize he did not win. The late-night host referenced Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025 and later presented the honor to Trump.
Kimmel said, “After disappearing their president, Trump refused to support Machado as the new leader of Venezuela.” He added, “And some in his circle believe it’s because she didn’t give him her Nobel Prize.” “So then she said, ‘Oh wait, you know what? I will give it to him.’”
Kimmel mocked the enthusiasm with which the president appeared to receive the gesture. He noted, “Rarely does a president yank a Nobel Prize off of someone’s neck. He’s back in the Oval Office sucking on it like a pacifier.” The host also ridiculed what he described as Trump’s reciprocal gesture. “She was seen leaving the White House with a gift bag. ‘Thanks for the Nobel Prize. Here’s a Make America Great Again mug. We appreciate you stopping by.” he added.
The segment then moved to immigration enforcement, with Kimmel suggesting that awards might be “the only way to get him to do anything.” That setup led to a mock proposal aimed at persuading Trump to withdraw ICE operations from Minneapolis. He jokingly offered to deliver any of them to the White House in exchange for a change in immigration policy. Kimmel said, “If you agree to pull ICE out of Minneapolis and put them back at the borders where they belong, I am prepared to offer you one of the following trophies that I have been honored with over the years.”
