Denver’s 9News jokingly introduced a replacement for its longtime host, Kyle Clark. This decision comes after a viewer left feedback on social media, calling for the broadcast to replace Clark and describing him as a “commie.”
Is Kyle Clark really leaving 9News after introducing his replacement?
In a hilarious skit, 9News responded to a viewer named Brad’s Facebook feedback by replacing Kyle Clark with a plastic Ficus tree.
The video began with Clark reading Brad’s comments. “Feedback tonight from Brad on Facebook, who writes, ‘Why doesn’t this station work on replacing commie Kyle Clark with a plastic Ficus tree? I might start watching again. Probably not. Worth a shot, 9News.”
Clark responded to the message, “Well, Brad, I took your feedback to 9News management, and they love it.” The video then switched to several segments, which were absent from the broadcast. In the clips, his co-host and reporter waited for Clark’s response, only for the camera to pan to a plastic Ficus tree standing in his place. The segment ended with a “9” badge pinned to one of the tree’s leaves.
Kyle Clark is a veteran journalist and anchor at KUSA-TV, also known as 9News, where he has worked since joining the station in 2007. He gained popularity after launching his show, Next, in 2016. As per the broadcast, the segment is Denver’s most-watched newscast since 2018. His team won the Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Innovation four times.
Throughout his career at 9News, Clark has received more than 20 Heartland Regional Emmy Awards. He has covered major events, including the tragic 2012 theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, and the 2013 Front Range Floods.
Clark began his career in 2005 as a reporter and anchor at WBNG-TV 12 in Binghamton, New York. He later served as a reporter and anchor at 13WHAM ABC in Rochester from 2005 before joining 9News.
