iPhone Users Ask ‘Should I Update to iOS 26.2?’ Amid Battery Life Concerns

iPhone users are in a fix after the new iOS 26.2 update, which many users have claimed is draining battery faster. This has raised concerns about updating to the latest firmware, as fans continue searching to determine if it is indeed a prudent decision to do so at this time. Here’s what Apple said about this.

Recently, “Should I Update to iOS 26.2?” has been trending all around because of user reports relating to higher battery drainage after the new update. While the latest software update should ideally make the iPhones better and more convenient, many users have continued to report an increased battery consumption following the update.

Apple has released a guideline about battery life. This guideline consists of multiple instances of why the battery may drain faster and how to better counter it with the available methods. The guideline has a part about “If battery life is less than expected after an update.”

In this segment, the company says, “If you notice that your battery life has decreased after updating your device, wait a few days and then check again.” It further explains, “Even though you can use your device immediately after an update, certain tasks related to the update continue in the background and may affect battery life and thermal performance. While they’re ongoing, you may see the Insight Ongoing iOS Update in Settings > Battery.”

So, it seems that in many cases, the increased battery drainage is because of the increased background activity after an update. This should resolve in a few days or hours for most users. But if it does not, there may be a bigger underlying problem.

Apple suggested resolutions like using low-power mode and adaptive power as countermeasures to this.
