One of the actors from the original X-Men films, Famke Janssen, who denied her involvement in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday several times, will now reportedly be part of the film. The MCU event movie, dropping later this year, will feature several returning characters from the 20th Century Fox franchise, like Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto.
Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey now said to be in Avengers: Doomsday
Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey from the original X-Men films will reportedly appear in Avengers: Doomsday, as per a new rumor. This rumor comes from The Beyond Reporter, who earlier claimed the same last month.
In addition, the user claimed that Halle Berry’s Storm from the original X-Men films would also appear after a fan asked about the same.
Janssen and Berry’s involvement in Doomsday has not been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios as of writing.
Notably, Janssen earlier shot down the prospect of playing Jean Grey again. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly in October 2025, the 61-year-old revealed that Marvel “never” asked her to step into the shoes of the telekinetic and telepathic mutant again.
However, the Dutch actress acknowledged her character’s impact on fans. “I should be flattered, I suppose, that this character has resonated with people,” she shared. “It’s been so long, but it’s nice that people are still talking about her. I’m sure every single time there’s a new movie that they’re doing, like [is it] Doomsday? … it’ll come up again,” the actress added.
Moreover, while chatting with Kristian Harloff in November 2025, Janssen expressed disinterest in reprising Jean Grey in Avengers: Doomsday. She reasoned that she is now geared towards projects where she has creative input, highlighting her Netflix show Amsterdam Empire — where she is an executive producer — as an example, and stressed that a film like Doomsday wouldn’t offer her such an opportunity. However, she didn’t rule out the possibility of “doing anything that’s just being part of a fun ensemble.”
Meanwhile, Halle Berry neither confirmed nor denied rumors of Storm’s return in Doomsday in an Entertainment Tonight interview in April 2025, jokingly suggesting that fans should “keep hoping for [it].”
