New Spy Series Gets Huge Streaming Success, Simu Liu Reacts

Around two weeks after its debut on Peacock, a newly released thriller series starring Simu Liu has become a streaming success. The Copenhagen Test has secured strong viewership, becoming one of the top 10 shows on the platform. It has also secured a top position in several streaming analytics charts and websites. Liu has now reacted to the show’s streaming success on social media.

Simu Liu took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight The Copenhagen Test’s streaming success. He shared a screenshot of Boardroom’s list of “The most-watched shows right now.” As depicted in the list, the spy thriller has garnered 1.1 billion views, due to which it outranks Emily in Paris Season 5 (675.3 million viewers) and The Pitt Season 1 (573.8 million viewers), but is outranked by Landman Season 2 (1.3 billion viewers) and Stranger Things Season 5 (5.1 billion viewers).

“THIS IS INSAAAANE,” the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star captioned his post.

As of January 8, 2026, The Copenhagen Test is at #3 on FlixPatrol‘s list of Top 10 TV shows. Thus, it is outranked by The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (#1) and Vanderpump Rules (#2), but outranks Supernatural (#4), Below Deck Mediterranean (#5), St. Denis Medical (#6), The Traitors (#7), Chrisley Knows Best (#8), Dateline (#9), and Love After Lockup (#10).

Two days earlier, Liu shared a screenshot of Peacock’s home page showing the Top 10 TV shows being watched on the streamer. The Copenhagen Test was at the #1 position, which Liu noted, thanking fans for supporting the show.

As of writing, The Copenhagen Test has not been renewed for a second season. However, given the first installment’s streaming success, chances for a follow-up outing are very likely.

In an interview with Deadline last month, series creator and showrunner Thomas Brandon weighed in on the show’s future. He shared that he and the creatives have considered a second season for the series. However, he clarified at the time that a potential second installment was “just thoughts.”
