‘I Wouldn’t Ask for No F—ing Charity’: Mickey Rourke Denies GoFundMe Rumor

Mickey Rourke took to social media to confirm that he did not set up a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to avoid eviction from his Los Angeles home. Earlier reports claimed that Rourke had been asked to pay overdue rent and was given just three days to do so to avoid vacating the premises. The GoFundMe campaign asked people to donate, alleging that Rourke’s financial condition had deteriorated after he moved away from Hollywood and pursued boxing, where he faced “lasting physical and emotional scars.”

Mickey Rourke denies setting up a GoFundMe campaign

Rourke took to Instagram to set the record straight, stating that he didn’t reach out to GoFundMe to ask them to set up a fundraiser and collect donations from people. He clarified that if he needed financial help, he wouldn’t rely on charity. He would rather “stick a gun up my a** and pull the trigger.”

Expressing his frustration towards the campaign, he added, “Whoever did this, I don’t know why they did it, I don’t understand it. I wouldn’t know what a GoFund foundation is in a million years,” he continued. “You know, my life is very simple; I don’t go to outside sources like that. And yeah, it is embarrassing, but I’m sure I’ll get over it like anything else.”

He further urged people to stop donating money to the campaign, and those who have already given, he asked them to try to get it back. He also reassured that he’ll speak with his lawyer to get this matter legally sorted. Additionally, he also opened up about his financial struggles during the lockdown and the writer’s strike. “COVID and the writers’ strike killed my money, but I was in a really bad situation with the place I was renting. Everything was good for five or six years, and then two scumbags from New York bought the house, and they wouldn’t fix anything,” he explained.

However, he clarified that under no circumstances would he ever ask strangers to donate money, calling such an act “embarrassing” and “humiliating.” Reassuring fans, he said they did not need to worry, as he has a home to live in and food on his plate. He also expressed gratitude for everything he has.
