MrBeast’s Level of Success Is Now Out of Reach, Claims Former Manager

MrBeast’s former manager claims that it is nearly impossible to achieve the level of success that the YouTuber has achieved. Reed Duchscher believes that, in this era of strict social media algorithms, it is harder for content creators to reach a wider audience base.

Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, boasts of a staggering 457 million subscribers on YouTube, a business valued at around $5 billion. His former manager, Reed Duchscher, believes one cannot replicate the YouTuber’s massive success anytime soon.

Duchscher believes that Donaldson is one of a kind and among the last creators to amass such a large and loyal fanbase. Duchscher believes social media algorithms now cater to individual tastes more than they did before. Hence, it is harder for YouTubers like MrBeast, Charli D’Amelio, or Khaby Lame to appeal to every user online. (via Business Insider)

He said, “If you like travel content, if you like automotive content, if you like health and beauty content, your algorithms kind of stay in that vertical.” Furthermore, he explained that popular platforms like TikTok and YouTube have gradually diversified their pool of creators. Today, different creators are catering to different kinds of audiences rather than relying on a few megastars to drive consumption.

Duchscher’s talent management firm, Night, currently manages some big creators like Kai Cenat and Hasan Piker. However, Duchscher is focused on signing new talent who have expertise with certain kinds of content and can dominate their niche well. He explained, “Social platforms benefit from diversifying their talent pool. It’s much easier to build businesses when you have a hyper-niche, scaled audience because the product makes a lot more sense.”

Duchscher advocated for the creator economy and launching a business in their area of niche. In fact, his company Night operates a separate venture arm that invests in creator businesses. MrBeast and Duchscher may have parted ways as manager and client, but they still work on his chocolate business, Feastables.
