Jon Runyan Jr. says ‘didn’t know the person that we’re seeing now’ about Sherrone Moore
When speaking with The New York Post, Giants guard Jon Runyan Jr. addressed the recent arrest of his former football coach Sherrone Moore. “I was with him for two years and knew his family, and didn’t know the person that we’re seeing now. It’s embarrassing for him, for a really prestigious program and to the families involved,” he told the outlet, mentioning, “It’s extremely disappointing.”
Runyan Jr. previously trained with Moore for two years during his time playing college football for the Michigan Wolverines. The Giants star also mentioned how he wants to see the Jim Harbaugh Era of Michigan come to an end and have Adam Stenavich take over. “He’s the best coach I think I’ve ever had from an Xs and Os standpoint,” he said. “He’s still an offensive lineman at heart, he’s hard on guys, but he gets a lot out of people.”
As for Moore, before taking over from Harbaugh, he worked as an assistant coach, focusing on tight ends and offensive tackles in 2018-19. Soon he earned himself a promotion to offensive coordinator and then to head coach in 2024. The University of Michigan fired him after finding evidence of “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.” Further, the police arrested Moore that night for for alleged assault, after a 911 call by a university employee claiming Moore was suicidal and stalked her for months.
