Recently, Seyfried came clean on the primary reason behind rejecting Marvel’s offer.

Amanda Seyfried and her “The Housemaid” co-star, Sydney Sweeney, appeared on the latest episode of Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector series, where they made quite a few previously unknown revelations about themselves.
The “Mamma Mia!” actor was the first to take the lie detector test, with her co-star posing the questions. At one point, Seyfried admitted that she was a “Karen” in high school. The polygraph revealed that she was telling the truth.
Sydney Sweeney already knew that Seyfried had rejected Marvel’s offer to be in one of their movies. Her subsequent question revealed the exact character that Marvel authorities wanted her to play. “You recently spoke about having no regrets in turning down the role of Gamora in the MCU,” said Sweeney. “Do you wish I had consulted you before joining the MCU?”
Amanda Seyfried revealed why she ended up turning down Marvel’s offer to play Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy. “No, because I just didn’t wanna sit around getting painted for more hours than my acting time,” said the 40-year-old actor.
Sweeney made her Marvel debut in 2024 with Madame Web. She played the role of Julia Cornwall, also known as Spider-Woman. On the other hand, Seyfried received Marvel’s offer to play Gamora over a decade earlier than Sweeney. The “Mank” actor reportedly got the call from Marvel in 2013 to play Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, which was released in 2014. (via MovieWeb)
