During a recent livestream event, singer-songwriter Kehlani said they are “manifesting” a fully Spanish performance from Bad Bunny and urged him not to switch to English for the halftime performance.
Kehlani wants Bad Bunny to skip English at the 2026 Super Bowl
Kehlani made the comments during Billboard’s 2025 No. 1s livestream on December 9. Speaking about Bad Bunny’s scheduled Super Bowl performance at Levi’s Stadium on February 8, 2026, they said, “He’s about to do the Super Bowl and probably not in English at all.” Kehlani added plainly, “I don’t think he should say a single word in English at all.”
When host Druski asked how a mostly English-speaking audience would follow along, Kehlani’s answer was short and direct. They said, “We don’t have to.” They made clear this was a hope or a wish, not inside knowledge about the show.
Kehlani also praised Bad Bunny’s wider approach to his career and culture. “I think his commitment to uplifting his culture has been so serious,” they said, pointing to his decision to focus performances in Puerto Rico as a way to bring economic benefit back home. “Refusing to tour here, only touring in Puerto Rico to change the economy back home, was something super exemplary.”
The language choice could also be controversial. Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl slot has already drawn public debate and a wide range of reactions since it was announced. Whatever he chooses, the performance will reach a large and diverse audience. As for the NFL, they have defended their decision to choose Bad Bunny for the halftime show. Roger Goodell, the commissioner, confirmed that Bad Bunny will not be replaced as the halftime performer.
