Beth Chamberlin has shared a positive update on her cancer treatment, shortly after revealing her diagnosis. The actress had previously announced that she had been diagnosed with early-stage endometrial cancer. In a new video, the star has detailed her recovery following a hysterectomy.
Beth Chamberlin reveals her Stage 1A cancer hasn’t spread
In a recent Instagram video on December 6, Beth Chamberlin gave a hopeful update on her cancer journey. The Guiding Light alum opened up about her health and recovery two weeks after undergoing a robotic-assisted hysterectomy, where she had both her ovaries removed.
Chamberlin shared that her final pathological report shows no sign of the cancer spreading, announcing she will not require any further treatment. “Lucky,” the actress declared before revealing some other lifestyle adjustments she has been navigating post-treatment.
“It’s a little hard to wrap my head around the fact that the morning of my surgery, I could have jumped out of bed and done 25 burpees,” she mused. “And two weeks post, I just…I tire easily. Don’t like that!” shared a frustrated Chamberlin.
The Guiding Light star went on to show the treatment scars on her abdomen, giving a breakdown of how the procedure went. “What you’re seeing here are four small incisions,” she said, pointing at the marks. “Plus, there is one in my belly button. That’s where the robotic arms went in.”
Showing a different mark, Chamberlin added, “This is surgical glue covering that will come off on its own.” She continued, “I don’t know if you can tell from there, but I do have significant swelling. Yours may be different than that.”
“Yours may be different than that,” she said, comforting her fans who might be on their cancer journey as well.
“I had significant adhesions from surgeries I had as a child to correct a birth defect,” Chamberlin further shared. “So, essentially, I had two surgeries in one. The planned hysterectomy and the adhesion removal. So, a lot of internal tissue healing is going on that you can’t see.”
Chamberlin went on to shed light on another issue she has been dealing with post-surgery. “At two weeks, my appetite still isn’t back. I had big plans for a high-protein recovery diet to heal faster. And I just still can’t quite stomach all of that,” she shared.
Chamberlin ended the video on an optimistic note, trusting the “rebuilding” process and hoping that her appetite will return soon.
