Former NFL Star Jokes Jason Kelce Could Ditch Retirement

Even after retiring, Jason Kelce is still a hot topic in the NFL world. The Philadelphia Eagles legend, who held down the center spot for 13 seasons, recently got some playful chatter when ESPN’s Troy Aikman joked about him suiting up again. With old-timers like Philip Rivers throwing around comeback hints, Aikman mused whether the Eagles might actually get a boost by bringing Kelce back onto the gridiron.

During a recent ESPN episode, Aikman and Joe Buck were talking about Philip Rivers possibly making a comeback at 44. Aikman couldn’t resist dragging Jason Kelce into the conversation, saying he’d be shocked if the Eagles hadn’t asked him yet. “I would be surprised if they haven’t already at some point this year, even last year.” He also said that he’d be knocking on his door every week, trying to get him back out there. “He can still do it,” Aikman said about Jason Kelce.

Kelce hung up his cleats after the 2023 season and took on an ESPN analyst position, but Aikman thinks he still has what it takes. With the Eagles’ interior line battling injuries, he thinks Kelce could be the perfect mid-season plug-in. “Maybe the Eagles with these banged up interior offensive linemen can call on our friend, ole 38-year-old Jason Kelce,” Buck responded.

The Eagles have pulled retired stars back into action before. Earlier this season, two-time Super Bowl champ Brandon Graham came out of retirement to play for Philly. As for Kelce, he hasn’t hinted at making a comeback, but his experience and leadership could be a game-changer if the Eagles ever reach out.

Jason Kelce built his Eagles legacy on hard work, leadership, and consistency. Drafted in 2011, he quickly became the anchor of Philly’s offensive line, racking up Pro Bowl nominations. He also played a huge role in the Super Bowl LII win. He was known not only for his game but also for his larger-than-life personality. If he ever decides to play again, the Eagles would welcome him with open arms.
