Eminem Made NSFW Grooming Request to Titanic Star on SNL

Kate Winslet has shared some fun stories over the years, but her newest one is the most unexpected yet. On The Graham Norton Show, the Oscar winner spilled the tea about a bizarre and hilarious moment she had with Eminem back when she hosted Saturday Night Live in 2004.

Kate Winslet on what Eminem asked her to do during their SNL appearance

Kate Winslet said the entire thing went down the week after Ashlee Simpson’s legendary lip-sync fail. She admitted she was nervous about hosting, and getting teamed up with Eminem just cranked the unpredictability to a new level.

Right in the middle of rehearsals, she said Eminem asked if she would be open to “shaving his bottom” like he was asking for a coffee refill. Winslet responded instantly, saying she doesn’t do “personal grooming,” and told Norton’s crowd she definitely wasn’t about to “go in with a Bick” for him. She also added she’d never shared the story before.

Winslet also pointed out that “there’s always like a poo-bum theme” whenever she appears on The Graham Norton Show. It’s not the first time she has had a stage mishap, but this Eminem story blows all her past confessions out of the water. It was at the same time she was promoting Finding Neverland.

Winslet said hosting SNL was “terrifying.” She barely got any time with the writers back when Seth Meyers was still the new kid in the room. She also had zero clue what her opening monologue was supposed to be. Every time she asked for details, the writers just asked her if she could sing and tap dance. She said yes, and they went, “perfect,” and left.

No script, no rundown, nothing, and then just a few hours before going live, Winset found out she’d be doing a song-and-dance number roasting Ashlee Simpson’s fiasco. That October 30, 2004, episode ended up being Winslet’s first and only shot at hosting SNL. And even though it had her stressed, she still says she “loved” the experience.
