On December 2, the 22-year-old Australian conservationist, Robert Irwin, unveiled his next “passion project.”

“I’m very excited to be heading back home very soon,” Irwin said as he started his Instagram video. “It has been quite the passion project that we’ve been working on back home in the Australia Zoo.”

He continued, “We’ve opened up a beautiful lodge—The Crocodile Hunter Lodge—which has been a way to really properly welcome everybody to our home.”

Robert Irwin then acknowledged all the support he has received in the United States, adding that he finds it “cool” to see how many people from the US are now visiting the zoo in Australia. He further added, “We wanted to create something so that everybody could have a proper home away from home when you visit us.”

The DWTS alum described how the experience would be at the lodge. “It’s all about eco-luxury. You’re in amongst the most beautiful wildlife. You’re right next door to the Australia Zoo, and you’re fully immersing yourself here at the lodge with everything that the zoo is about.” Irwin noted that it’s not just the “one-on-one experience with the wildlife”, but also a way to “give back to wildlife conservation.”

The Crocodile Hunter Lodge is in Beerwah, Queensland, Australia. Inspired by Steve Irwin’s legacy, it features rustic cabins set in the natural bushland and wildlife. Guests will also have access to its Warrior Restaurant & Bar, as well as unlimited access to the Australian Zoo.
