Following the cancellation of NBC’s Suits LA, a series star has finally secured a new major television role. Josh McDermitt, best known for The Walking Dead, is joining the hit CBS drama Fire Country for its current fourth season in a recurring capacity.
Josh McDermitt joins Fire Country Season 4 after Suits LA
Josh McDermitt seems to be trading legal briefs for firefighting gear, as the actor has joined the cast of CBS’ top-rated drama Fire Country as a recurring character for Season 4, Deadline reported.
This move comes on the heels of NBC deciding not to move forward with a second season of the offshoot Suits LA, where McDermitt had a key role earlier this year.
McDermitt’s Fire Country run begins with the episode airing this Friday, December 5. He is part of a new character arc that also introduces fellow recurring stars Alona Tal and Conor Sherry. For more context, in Fire Country, McDermitt will play Landon, a man who looks meek. Landon is Chloe’s partner. The family is reeling after recently losing their home to wildfires.
This storyline promises to introduce personal stakes and potential romantic connections for the show’s core characters. Chloe was revealed to be Bode Donovan’s former peer tutor in high school. The two also harbored secret crushes on each other. Their reunion years later, facilitated after Chloe’s son, Tyler, crosses paths with Bode, may offer a second chance at romance, potentially placing Landon in the middle of a love triangle.
McDermitt brings a wealth of television experience to the show. He is popularly recognized for his long-running role as Eugene Porter on AMC’s The Walking Dead. He also appeared in the Season 4 opener of HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones. Other projects he has worked on include Mad Men, Life in Color, Odious, Twin Peaks, Middle Man, and Creepshow.
