Actor, producer, and director Michael B. Jordan revealed the one fashion aspect he incorporated to portray the difference between the SmokeStack Twins in Sinners. While Ryan Coogler did an incredible job writing two distinctive personalities, Jordan came up with an additional idea that helped the audience tell them apart.
Michael B. Jordan ‘wore different-size shoes’ to differentiate between twins in Sinners
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Michael B. Jordan shared that he “wore different-size shoes” to differentiate between the identical twins in Sinners.
He explained that he used larger shoes for the first brother, Elijah “Smoke” Moore. He described him as someone who was “really grounded” and “didn’t really move around too much.” And for the Elias “Stack” Moore, he used a smaller pair since the character was “always moving from one thing to the next—a little lighter on his feet.”
Jordan added that after his directorial debut with Creed III, he was able to serve as “an extra set of eyes” on the sets of the movie. “Now you have two directors on set that are problem-solving and being creative,” the Black Panther actor shared.
The 38-year-old played both Elijah “Smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore in Ryan Coogler’s 2025 supernatural horror, Sinners. This was the fifth time that the two have worked together. The movie also featured Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Miles Caton, Jayme Lawson, Wunmi Mosaku, and Li Jun Li, among others.
Set in 1932, the movie centers on the SmokeStack Twins as they return home to Clarksdale, Mississippi. Together, they work to open a juke joint for the local Black community using stolen money. However, on their launch day, their cousin Sammie, a gifted young blues musician, unknowingly attracts supernatural attention with his performance.
Following its April 18, 2025, release, the film garnered favorable reviews and became one of the year’s most successful movies. While the film concluded with a setup that hints at a potential sequel, there is very little news about it.
