’80s Classic Horror Beats 2 Beloved Michael B. Jordan Movies on Free Streaming

A classic horror movie from the 80s has climbed to the top of the streaming charts, bringing renewed attention to it. By securing the highest spot, it has defeated two popular sports drama movies headlined by Michael B. Jordan. Following its theatrical release, it launched a long-running franchise that includes related comic books and merchandise.

Hellraiser dominates Tubi charts

As of May 7, 2026, Hellraiser is the #1 movie on Tubi’s top 10 list, according to data shared by tracker FlixPatrol. It outranks two Michael B. Jordan movies, Creed 2 and Creed 3, which sit at #2 and #3, respectively.

The supernatural horror also surpasses Face/Off (#4), The Beach House (#5), The Guardian (#6), The Predator (#7), Armed and Dangerous (#8), A Madea Family Funeral (#9), and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (#10).

Hellraiser premiered in the United Kingdom on September 10, 1987, first debuting at the Prince Charles Cinema. It was later released in the United States about a week later, on September 18.

Following its release, it became a significant box office success, grossing $30 million against its $1 million budget. This resulted in the launch of a long-running franchise that includes nine sequels and one reboot released in 2022.

It garnered a mixed critical reception at the time of release, before becoming a classic after reevaluation over the years. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 71% fresh approval rating and a 73% audience score.

Clive Barker wrote and helmed Hellraiser, based on his novella, The Hellbound Heart, marking his directorial debut. Meanwhile, Christopher Figg produced it. The cast features Andrew Robinson, Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, Sean Chapman, and Doug Bradley, among others.

The story follows Frank Cotton, who opens a mystical box abroad, summoning gruesome, extra-dimensional beings called Cenobites. Fueled by sadomasochism, they tear Frank’s body apart, killing him.

Later, his brother, Larry, and his wife, who is also Frank’s lover, Julia, accidentally resurrect him as a ghoul after taking up residence at his old home. Subsequently, Frank convinces Julia to help him fully restore himself by luring men to his attic and wounding them so he can drain their life force.
