KROQ Weenie Roast 2013 Gallery: Imagine Dragons

At KROQ's annual day-long Weenie Roast festival in Irvine on Saturday, mega-smash blues rockers The Black Keys found themselves in a sea of more indie-leaning fare including Of Monsters and Men, "Sail" heroes AWOLNATION, the yacht-rock fun of Vampire Weekend, Silversun Pickups and more. Yes, Stone Temple Pilots surprised us all with an unannounced debut of their new singer, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, and 30 Seconds to Mars was reliably rigid yet cinematically epic in execution. But giving the seasoned vets a run for their money were Imagine Dragons, who showed tremendous leaps of evolution as a live outfit with their 5:30 set at the fest.

Singer Dan Reynolds led the band through impassioned and expanded renditions of Night Visions tracks "It's Time," "Radioactive" and "Demons," at one point running out into the audience to celebrate the moment face-to-face with those in the upper loge area.
