Photos: Sasquatch Festival Art Workshop Puts Artists on Display

The Saquatch Music Festival delivered a music marathon of excellence over Memorial Day weekend, with standout performances from Savages, Vic Mensa, Digable Planets, Purity Ring, Shannon & the Clams and more. We even happened to be in exactly the right place at the right time for a breathtaking sunset solo acoustic set by Leon Bridges, halfway up the lawn for the main stage (his full-band performance had been cancelled due to high winds).

In addition to the wide range of great sounds we heard deep in the eastern wildlands of Washington, a spectacular visual workshop took place throughout the weekend with an impromptu art gallery in the making. Visual artists of all styles and walks of life converged on the grassy expanse on the far opposite end of the Bigfoot stage, working on various pieces throughout the entire weekend.

The artists are not paid to be present at the fest, though the experience offers a unique intersection of live inspiration and networking/collaborative opportunities. My personal favorite is the wildly psychedelic collaboration in the photo up top, a work between Joey Masciotra and Andy Art.
