The Strokes Confirm They’re Headed Back Into The Studio

The Strokes took the stage at Washington D.C.’s inaugural Landmark Festival on Sunday night (Sept. 27) for a fantastic performance, and during their set the NYC rockers confirmed they will soon return to the studio to record a follow-up to 2013’s Comedown Machine.

Frontman Julian Casablancas – who happens to be Crave’s guest editor for the month – told the crowd, “Thanks guys. We’ll be back soon and we’ll be back in the studio and shit, yeah. Fuck yeah, man.” Guitarist Nick Valensi’s wife, Amanda de Cadenet, doubled down on the news, tweeting that Casablancas “let the cat outta the bag.”

The Strokes never properly toured behind Comedown Machine, and guitarist Albert Hammond Jr’s claims back in July that the Strokes have no new material in the works fueled fan speculation that we wouldn’t hear any new material for the foreseeable future. But we know better now…

Meanwhile, Hammond released his latest solo effort, Momentary Masters, over the summer, while Casablancas made his debut with his side project, the Voidz, last year – they’re actually Crave guest editors for the month as well. Check out a specially curated playlist from the guys.

While Julian is playing a solo set at Crave’s official relaunch party in NYC tomorrow, The Strokes are also set to play Austin City Limits this weekend – and we’ll be front and center for that hot action.
