Hear Tame Impala’s Brand-New 8-Minute Song, ‘Let It Happen’

Out of nowhere, a new Tame Impala song has appeared online. The track, titled Let It Happen, marks the first new Tame Impala material since 2012’s stellar second album Lonerism, and is believed to be a taste of the band’s highly anticipated follow up record, which is expected later this year.

Let It Happen (below) is an eight-minute slow-burner dotted with muted percussion, minimal guitars and colourful synthesizers. Fittingly, it looks likely that the song will appear on Tame Impala’s more electronic and less rock-centric new album, with the band posting to Facebook this morning to say, “NEW SONG. Track 1.”

Let It Happen is available to download for free via the Tame Impala website, although the site appears to have crashed under heavy traffic at the time of writing. Thankfully, the song can be streamed or downloaded for free in all its electro-psych glory.

Tame Impala have no Australian shows currently scheduled, but have locked in American and Eruopean festival slots at Coachella, Governor’s Ball, Sasquatch, Bestival, Lowlands, Lollapalooza Berlin, Rock En Seine, and Electric Picnic.
