Gorillaz Tease New Album with ‘The Book of Noodle’

Gorillaz have teased their upcoming new album in a series of tweets detailing ‘The Book of Noodle’, telling the story of the band’s fictional guitarist following the events of their last concept album, Plastic Beach.

The tweets were posted on the Gorillaz official Twitter account, with them featuring animated artwork along with small passages from the mysterious book. Though the the connection between the book and the album hasn’t been revealed, it does suggest that the new LP will also take the form of a concept album, charting the adventures of the cartoon band.

The story outlined by the series of tweets reveals that following the events of the attack on Plastic Beach, Noodle retreated to a small fishing village wherein she unwittingly released a shape-shifting demon called Maazu. Noodle then pursued Maazu across Japan, eventually finding it in Tokyo, where it had risen to the top of the criminal underworld. Disguising herself as a geisha, she managed to infiltrate one of Maazu’s parties, only to behead the demon in front of its guests. After escaping its sumo bodyguards, she then “packed herself into a FedEx crate with dried fish, bottled water and a copy of Moby Dick”, with the crate addressed to Gorillaz bassist Murdoc Niccals.
