Dominic West’s Scorpions Movie About Iconic Rock Band Gets Theatrical Release Date

The story of one of Germany’s most successful rock bands is coming to theaters across North America. Wind of Change, a biopic about the legendary band Scorpions, has secured a theatrical release through Roadside Attractions.

According to Deadline, the film will arrive in the band’s home country in January 2027, with Warner Bros. Germany handling its release there. North American audiences will get to watch it in March 2027.

The movie also features Dominic West, who plays Doc McGhee, the band’s renowned music manager. The cast includes Alexander Dreymon, Ludwig Trepte, Ed Speleers, and Luke Brandon Field as the members of the Scorpions.

What is Dominic West’s Scorpions movie about?

Wind of Change follows the Scorpions from their formation in 1965 through their rise to international success. The story focuses on Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine, Matthias Jabs, and Herman Rarebell. It traces how the band took its music beyond Germany and helped bridge the divide between East and West during the Cold War.

The film takes its name from the group’s 1991 hit, “Wind of Change.” The song became closely associated with the end of the Cold War and came to represent hope, peace, and unity. It also became a major international success. It sold 14 million copies worldwide.

The film’s soundtrack will showcase iconic Scorpions tracks, including “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Still Loving You.” David Kross also joins the cast as Andrej, an imprisoned friend of the band residing on the other side of the Berlin Wall.

Wind of Change is directed by Alex Ranarivelo from a screenplay written by Mark Andrews. Fox Entertainment Studios and Ali Afshar’s ESX Entertainment are producing the project in association with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Producers include Afshar, Christina Moore, and Daniel Aspromonte, alongside executive producers Fernando Szew, Hannah Pillemer, Ani Kevork, and Larry Grimaldi.

Roadside Attractions co-presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff said the film explores the band’s ambition to take its music beyond the Iron Curtain. They also pointed to the group’s belief that artists can inspire change.

Having sold more than 110 million albums over their six-decade career, the Scorpions remain one of hard rock’s most enduring live acts. Wind of Change arrives in North American theaters in March 2027.
