A beloved Matthew McConaughey 2003 movie is getting a sequel. The project will be produced by the lead actress of the original rom-com, with hopes that the two main stars will reprise their roles.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is getting a sequel, with Kate Hudson producing it, as per Variety. The idea behind the movie is for Hudson and her co-star, McConaughey, to reprise their roles as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry. That said, the actors’ representatives did not immediately respond to the publication’s request for comment.
The original movie was directed by Donald Petrie. Although the 2003 release has an underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes score of 42%, it is one of the iconic rom-coms of the 2000s with a sequel in the works at Paramount.

A source close to the project said the sequel is in its early stages of development. The project is currently looking for a screenwriter. Moreover, several key creative roles and cast members are yet to be selected.
Additionally, Stacey Sher, best known for Pulp Fiction and Vanilla Sky, will co-produce the sequel with Hudson. The original movie follows a cat-and-mouse chase between Andie and Benjamin, but eventually love blossoms between them amid the absurd circumstances they create. The plot details of the sequel are unknown.
Earlier in January, Hudson teased the sequel in an interview with BuzzFeed UK. She said, “You know, it’s one of those things that comes up all the time that even Matthew and I are like, ‘Should we be doing it?’ How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days reunion. It just has to be right. And if it is and it happens, then we would probably do it, I think.”
Hudson was most recently seen in Song Sung Blue, which earned her a second Oscar nomination. She was first nominated for her role as Penny Lane in Almost Famous.
