2 Iconic Robin Williams Movies Finally Make Their 4K UHD Debut, Release Dates Set

Two of Robin Williams’ most beloved movies are getting a major home-video upgrade, giving fans a fresh reason to revisit his classics. Both Academy Award-winning movies have been announced to arrive in 4K UHD, revisiting them in the best way possible.

Dead Poets Society and Mrs. Doubtfire will debut on 4K Digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on September 29, 2026. The first film was released in 1989, while the latter premiered in 1993. More than three decades later, the movies are coming in enhanced formats for home audiences.

Both films showcase different sides of Williams’ incredible range. In Dead Poets Society, Williams played unorthodox English teacher John Keating, a dramatic performance that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Meanwhile, in Mrs. Doubtfire, he disguised himself as an elderly Scottish nanny to remain close to his kids, winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

What fans can expect from the first-ever 4K releases

The new editions will feature 4K resolution, High Dynamic Range (HDR), a wider color spectrum, and immersive audio. These upgrades are planned to offer both movies a more detailed and vibrant presentation at home.

Moreover, fans can purchase the digital versions of the movie for the first time in 4K. The titles will be available through major platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango.

Physical collectors will also get new key art for both releases. Mrs. Doubtfire features specialized collectible 4K UHD packaging: its outer sleeve displays Williams as the unforgettable housekeeper, while the inner artwork reveals his character, Daniel Hillard.

Dead Poets Society follows Williams as an unconventional English teacher who encourages his students to think independently and cherish life. His famous “Carpe Diem!” message became one of the film’s standout moments. It remains one of the most celebrated dramatic performances of the late American actor.

In Mrs. Doubtfire, Williams stars as a devoted voice actor and father who goes to extreme lengths to stay connected with his children following a difficult custody ruling.

With both classics arriving on physical media and digital platforms this fall, long-time fans and new viewers alike can experience Williams’ legacy in the highest available quality.
