Hulu’s upcoming The Cable Guy remake pilot has just cast Rebecca Rittenhouse in a leading role. The actress will reportedly play Robin, the character Leslie Mann portrayed in the original 1996 movie, starring Jim Carrey. Rittenhouse has previously starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
The untitled pilot of Hulu’s upcoming Cable Guy series had previously announced Jake Johnson, Damon Wayans Jr., Natasha Rothwell and Crystal Fox as the main cast members.
According to a recent report by Deadline, Rittenhouse is joining the cast as Robin, who breaks up with Steven, played by Wayans Jr., at the start of the series as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery.
This rendition of The Cable Guy follows cable technician Chip Douglas, played by Johnson, whose unexpected reunion with childhood friend Steven Stephens turns into an obsession. The series is not a direct remake of Jim Carrey’s original film but an inspired reimagination that explores modern-day male friendship.
Stars Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. also serve as the show’s executive producers alongside Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty. The series, which has yet to be titled, is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
