Robert De Niro & Adam Scott’s Netflix Horror Film Debuts Chilling New Poster

Netflix has dropped a brand-new poster for its upcoming horror flick starring Robert De Niro and Adam Scott. This chilling promotional material arrives just a month ahead of the film’s highly anticipated release.

The official synopsis reads, “When his 8-year-old son is abducted, a widowed crime writer looks to his estranged father, a retired former police detective, for help, only to discover a connection with the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as The Whisper Man.”

What do we know about The Whisper Man?

The latest poster for the horror film, titled The Whisper Man, features Acston Luca Porto looking back in terror as a sinister hand slips through a front door’s mail slot. Netflix shared the poster on X with a caption that read, “If you leave a door half open, soon you’ll hear the whispers spoken.”

According to an article by Netflix’s Tudum, that line is part of a central playground rhyme that drives the film’s plot. The full rhyme reads, “If you leave a door half open, soon you’ll hear the whispers spoken. If your window’s left unlatched, you’ll hear him tapping at the glass. If you’re lonely, sad, and blue, the Whisper Man will come for you.” Based on Alex North’s best-selling novel of the same name, The Whisper Man follows a dark investigation into a serial killer long thought to be behind bars. When children begin to disappear once again, the playground rhyme comes to life, a retired detective is called back into action.

Alongside De Niro as Detective Inspector Pete Willis and Scott as Tom Kennedy, The Whisper Man stars Michelle Monaghan as Detective Amanda Beck, Michael Keaton as Frank Carter, Will Brill as Sgt. John Dyson, and Acston Luca Porto as Jake Kennedy. The film also features John Carroll Lynch, Hamish Linklater, and Owen Teague in key roles.

Directed by James Ashcroft, The Whisper Man premieres on Netflix on August 28, 2026.
