What is the new Avengers: Secret Wars rumor?
Posted by @AvengersUpdates, it was reported that the Secret Wars cast members could be the younger characters of Doomsday, and those who don’t get much screen time. They also mentioned that characters from New Mutants are expected to appear in the 2027 film.
Avengers: Doomsday will mark the crossover between the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, as the three worlds collide in a multiversal incident.
All of the previous actors and actresses from these Marvel Cinematic Universe movies will reprise their respective roles in the movie, except for Robert Downey Jr., who is coming back as Doctor Doom. This cast includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, and more.
This leaves room for many of the younger cast members to have their own follow-up films. These include Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang or Stature, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan or Ms. Marvel, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop or Hawkeye.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is also expected to appear in Secret Wars alongside Sadie Sink’s unknown character. Channing Tatum is also reported to reprise his role as Gambit in Avengers: Secret Wars, although the standalone film was canceled.
The younger cast from New Mutants includes Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, and Henry Zaga as Sunspot. They are not in Doomsday and could get a comeback in Secret Wars.
It’s also rumored that Secret Wars will pick up from Doomsday’s ending, where Doctor Strange may restore the consciousness of some characters, possibly the aforementioned younger cast, to overthrow Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, releasing in theatres on December 17, 2027.
