Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow might include more characters than previously thought. A new rumor suggests that DC Studios has yet to announce more characters for the film.
What is the rumored Man of Tomorrow casting update?
According to scoopers Daniel Richtman and Home of DCU, Man of Tomorrow includes some unannounced, potentially interesting characters. The codenames used to refer to those unknown characters in the production include “Rocket J Squirrel”, “Dick Dastardly”, “Mezcal”, and “Max Headroom”. It should be noted that these codenames are just rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt, as DC Studios has yet to comment on the matter.
According to Home of DCU, these characters will “mean basically nothing to the actual role”, making predicting the actual characters tough. Regardless, fans have started throwing in their guesses at Batmite, Chip, Constantine, Mister Mxyzptlk, Cyborg, and more.
The codenames are actually references to real characters in other properties. Dick Dastardly is a villainous character from Hanna-Barbera cartoons who appeared in Wacky Races, Scoob!, Jellystone!, and more.
Rocket J. Squirrel is a character from the animated series The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Interestingly, the character has actually appeared in the Marvel comic Bullwinkle and Rocky Marvel Moosterworks.

It remains to be seen whether DC Studios will add more notable characters to Man of Tomorrow. The film will see Superman and Lex Luthor facing off against Brainiac. It has been rumored that the film will feature an appearance from Martian Manhunter. DC Studios has already confirmed that the film will include Supergirl, Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart or Green Lantern, and Gary the Superman Robot. Additionally, Adria Arjona’s undisclosed character is rumored to be either Wonder Woman or Maxima in the film.
Man of Tomorrow releases in theaters on July 9, 2027.
