What do we see in the Rich Flu trailer?

The Rich Flu trailer begins with a quote by Henry David Thoreau, “A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone.” This sets up the film’s central theme of wealth redistribution. Viewers are then taken into Laura’s (Winstead) world as she attends an auction thronged by the wealthy and the influential, where someone frantically collapses shortly after she makes an exorbitant purchase.

She soon discovers that a state of emergency has been declared and a mysterious virus is spreading. Its early symptoms include a strange glow emanating from the teeth, and it predominantly attacks the social elites.

Although she initially feels a sense of relief knowing her social status has yet to change, she eventually discovers that her financial standing has shifted.

As pandemonium ensues and people lose their lives to the mysterious virus, Laura realizes that the only way to stay alive and uninfected is to part ways with her wealth. The rest of the trailer follows her and others on a perilous journey of survival as the world they once knew completely falls apart. Whether she makes it out alive or not forms the rest of the story.

The synopsis for the film reads, “First, it was the millionaires, then the billionaires, and so on… Then, (the virus) threatens to strike anyone who has any kind of fortune. With everyone in panic, people try to get rid of their assets, but the world no longer wants them.”

Rich Flu is slated to release on June 5, 2026.
