Ticketmaster Will Soon Sell Tickets Directly Through Facebook

Events ticketing website Ticketmaster has announced that it will start selling tickets to its featured events on Facebook by the end of April.

It comes as more and more companies incorporate Facebook as an integral part of their business strategy, to take advantage of the fact that customers are increasingly spending less time on actual websites and more on a handful of apps including Facebook. According to Forrester, 84% of all time spent by consumers on non-native apps on mobile devices is spent on just five apps, with Facebook often number one.

“By putting the ability to buy tickets directly within Facebook we hope that we’re going to provide a more seamless purchase experience and sell more tickets,” said Dan Armstrong, VP and GM of distributed commerce at Ticketmaster, in an interview with Buzzfeed.

When a ticket is purchased through Facebook for Ticketmaster, Facebook will collect a fee. Following the purchase, the tickets must be ‘claimed’ via Ticketmaster’s official site or mobile app. Ticketmaster has also stated that the feature will be originally limited to a select number of general admission events, to be expanded pending the success of the launch.
