YouTuber Toby “Tobuscus” Turner Responds to Rape Allegations

Popular YouTuber Toby Turner has responded to allegations made by his ex-girlfriend April Fletcher, saying that the claims he had raped and emotionally abused her are “false.”

In a post on Tumblr titled ‘The Truth About Tobuscus,’ Fletcher claimed that she was “mentally and physically abused” by the YouTuber, known as Tobuscus on the video-sharing site, over a period of five years. Among the accusations Fletcher leveled at Turner was that he had raped her following an argument between the pair in which he had called her a “stupid fucking dumb blonde” for telling him that she had previously had a miscarriage, that he had drugged her (Fletcher claims that he is “a drug addict”) at a party to the point where she couldn’t remember whether or not the pair had sex (“All I know is at some point he is passed out cuddling me on his beanbag chair and I’m just staring straight ahead wide awake with anxiety,” she writes) and that throughout the duration of their on-off relationship, he is alleged to have repeatedly emotionally abused her, denied that he was in a relationship with her and cheated on her with a number of different women.

Another of Turner’s ex-girlfriends, Clare Lourdes, praised Fletcher for her post in a Facebook update, writing: “I have made peace with my time with Toby and don’t wish to discuss it in detail, as is my choice. However, I can say that my time with him has given me the experience and perspective to believe their accounts are absolutely true.” Amelia Talon, another ex-girlfriend of Turner’s, also posted a video in which she described how she had felt pressured to take MDMA while dating the YouTuber, and that she had also felt pressured to have sex with him. In a lengthy video, Jaclyn Glynn also said that she had felt pressured to do certain things by him while dating him, but that she had never been forced into any situation.

However, another of Turner’s exes, Olga Kay, posted a tweet referencing her own experience with Turner, saying: “I was never drugged or raped or felt unsafe in any way.”

Turner responded specifically to Fletcher’s claims in a YouTube video titled ‘The Truth,’ saying: “A person I dated a few years ago has just made some extremely serious, false allegations about me, and I want to be crystal clear: I have never done anything without her consent; I’ve never tried to trick her into anything.”

It’s unclear whether or not Fletcher is looking to pursue a legal case against Turner.
