2015 Tokyo Motor Show: Porsche Debuts Macan GTS Crossover

With the crossover class as popular as ever, Porsche added to their selections in the category at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show with the new Macan GTS.

Essentially an upgraded trim level from previous Macan levels, the Macan GTS ups the ante in power and overall performance — transforming the crossover into a much sportier ride.

Porsche adds a twin-turbo 3.0 liter V6 to this Macan, producing 355bhp with an all wheel drive system guaranteeing it’s the most powerful Macan Porsche builds. Listed top speed comes in at 160 mpg with a 0-60 time around 5.0 seconds — startlingly swift for a vehicle of this size.

In addition to the upgraded engine, the Macan GTS will arrive with power everything, AM/FM/Satellie/CD digital audio, lane departure warning, three-zone climate control and the latest of Porsche’s infotainment system.

Keeping the heavy vehicle on its feet is PASM active suspension and standard 20-inch wheels. The gearbox for all models is a seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters. All totaled, that powertrain yields an impressive average MPG of 32 – another eyebrow raiser for a high performance crossover.

Set to go on sale around the world in 2016, the Macan should carry a price point around $110,000, depending on selected options.
