Few winter getaways can match the breathtaking scenery, powdery slopes and entertaining nightlife of Colorado. Whether you want to kick back or fine-tune your advanced skiing talents, this Rocky Mountain state will deliver.

If you’re planning a ski trip, then these three vacation destinations offer plenty of reasons to visit the best ski resorts in Colorado when the snows start falling:

Best Colorado Ski Resorts

Vail

Vail is one of the largest and most renowned ski resorts on the planet. It is home to more than 5,200 acres of ski and snowboard terrain, which certainly justifies the resort’s slogan: “Like Nothing on Earth.” In fact, most guests have the chance to ski new trails every day of their trip.

Vail is in central Colorado, and it sports the best snow profile in the area. A modern and ultra-efficient lift system transports guests to the tops of the slopes in no time at all, which is perfect for skiers who want as much powder time as possible. This is one reason why Forbes listed the destination in the top-10 ski resorts in North America.

After an exhilarating day on the slopes, you can enjoy Vail’s vibrant nightlife. Most bars and restaurants are situated within walking distance from the resort. There is also a free bus shuttle to more distant venues.

Beaver Creek

When it comes to the best Colorado ski resorts, Beaver Creek has it all. This luxury destination has developed a reputation for its world-class restaurants, comfortable lodging, endless shopping and family-friendly atmosphere. Heated escalators and walkways connect an assortment of art galleries, bars and restaurants in the main village.

If you’re a beginner or intermediate skier, then Arrowhead Village and Bachelor Gulch have all you need for memorable runs down the slope. Centennial, on the other hand, is steep enough to challenge even the most advanced skiers. The resort has fewer skiers than its neighbors to the east, so it’s easy to find untainted powder – even late in the day.

Beaver Creek is situated close to the town of Avon and is home to the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship – a testament to its quality. In addition, the resort received 4.5 out of 5 stars for overall experience by OnTheSnow.com.

Silverton

If you’re an experienced skier and want the real deal, then Silverton Mountain will deliver. Opened in 2002, this resort has an average yearly snowfall of 400 inches, which means plenty of quality powder for cruising the slopes.

A double chairlift traverses 1,819 acres of steep, un-groomed powder. Visitors can access another 22,000 acres by helicopter or hiking. But be warned: Unguided skiing and snowboarding are not allowed during certain times of the season. Silverton is a favorite destination for advanced skiers, but if you’re a beginner, then these trails may be out of your league.

Few states – if any – offer more exciting ways to hit the slopes than Colorado. Whether you want pumping nightlife, gourmet cuisine, powdery ski trails or just a relaxing winter getaway, consider adding one of these three destinations to your vacation itinerary.
