Jaguar, Land Rover Cast a Spectre Over New 007 Film

The evil forces of SPECTRE took over the Frankfurt Auto Show this week when Jaguar and Land Rover unveiled the vehicles they contributed to this autumn’s adventures of James Bond.

Dave Bautista and Naomie Harris, who portray henchman Mr. Hinx and Miss Moneypenny, were on hand to add a little more visual sizzle to the Range Over SVR, a specially equipped Land Rover Defender and a gorgeous hybrid supercar — the Jaguar C-X75

Though James Bond was originally fond of Bentleys in Ian Fleming’s books, he’s largely been an Aston Martin man in the 007 movies. Daniel Craig’s Bond will be in an Aston again when SPECTRE premieres, but Jaguar and Land Rover provide the transportation for 007’s adversaries.

Mr. Hinx drives the C-X75 – a stunning hybrid that was supposed to be Jaguar’s halo car someday. Showing it off in SPECTRE is a bit of a villainous trick by Jaguar as it’s as close as we’ll likely get to seeing it on the road. Like many aspiring concept cars, it won’t go into production — though it’s hybrid engineering and performance technology should trickle down into the Jaguar and Land Rover lines here and there.

I’m a grown ass man. I’m getting tired of super hero movies. I don’t go to cartoons. I’ll Star Wars, but I’m not dying for it. But, James Bond I’ll always go see — and cars like this are some of the reasons why.
