Paris Collections | Kenzo S/S 2016

Kenzo’s spring summer 2016 collection reveled in a future where space traveling is the new norm. The runway was designed to so that the models would appear to be strolling along a distant planet from Earth. The clothing was clean and utilitarian, perfect for traveling the Milky Way.

Designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon skillfully jumped onto the sportswear trend by featuring hybrid utility blazers, duffle backpacks, parkas, and accessorizing with functional drawstrings that allowed the clothing to be adjusted. The collection maintained a neutral color palate except for pops of pink, greens, and blues. The patchwork trousers and color-blocked sweaters gave depth and detail to the pieces.

Looks that particularly stood out for their unique designs were a geometric textured sweater, a speckled trench coat, a jumpsuit, and a logo heavy sweater. Also incorporated were several sheer shirts that appear to be trending for next year.

Overall, Kenzo’s collection offers great staple pieces that anyone can build a wardrobe around – not only for 2016, but also for infinity and beyond!
