Paris Collections | Rick Owens S/S16

Like watching a scene from an apocalyptic film where everyone is dressed identically, the Rick Owens spring summer 2016 collection, titled “Cyclops,” hit the nail on the head.

The designs were characteristic to Mr. Owens’ established tastes, with layers of elongated sleeveless shirts that incorporated various textures that gave depth to the collection’s silhouettes. Owens transformed the trending utility vest into a long sleeveless trench, adding a touch of military to his eccentric vision.

Like the military, the menswear utilized mainly blacks, blues, and creams, with the occasional mint and orange. The neutral uniforms included capris, sleeveless jackets layered with long sleeve shirts, tunics made from sheer materials, and even a note saying, “Please Kill Angela Merkel NOT.”

This provocative statement matches the generally  edgy, abstract, and versatile nature of Owens’ offerings for next Spring.
